Women’s Ministry

The goals of the Ladies Ministry of Northwest Church of Christ are:

• To support the brethren in the work of the church
• To involve every sister in one or more activities in the Ladies Ministry (All are needed and wanted)
• To glorify God and be a light to the world in all that we do (It is all about Him)

We also have have quarterly Ladies Fellowship to increase the bond of love and unity among our sisters.

The Ladies Ministry has various activities coordinated through different committees to help those who are in need in our community or within the church.

Its main objective is to give the opportunity to all people of all nations, backgrounds, and races, to hear the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, his love and his saving grace, the opportunity to accept it.  MATTHEW 28: 18-19.

OBJECTIVE GOALS TO ACHIEVE THIS

  2. Worship  Services
  3. Go into all the World

Benevolence

The Benevolence Ministry is responsible for ensuring the charitable and orderly stewardship of funds (1Cor 14:40).  This ministry provides information, and financial counselling and bible study to help brethren to be able to achieve financial stability.  An important part of the Benevolence ministry of the Northwest Street Church of Christ is to help provide basic necessities of life to people in need (i.e. food, shelter and clothing) in keeping with the mandate to do so found throughout the Scriptures: Matthew 25: 31-46 – Jesus himself directed us to help those in need. James 2:26 – For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. Hebrews 6:10 – God is not unjust: he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. We want to assist individuals and families, whether members of the Church or from the community at large, who are truly in need of assistance.

College Outreach

College can definitely struggle—from various temptations, personal struggles, and being away from home. During this time, it can be easy to drift away. We are here to help you keep your relationship with God strong and growing. Come fellowship with us and bring a friend!

You can be active in our services too! We want to be your home away from home. Are you passionate about singing, teaching, or helping others. You can!

Huntsville, AL has many colleges and universities in the area: Alabama A&M, the University of Alabama, Huntsville, Drake State Technical College, Calhoun Community College, just to name a few. Northwest is your church family away from home. We offer:

  • Transportation: for those who might need to do any shopping doctor’s
appointments, just to show around town.
  • Bible study on campus for all those who would like to attend. Focusing on the issue of today and anything that will help in our Christian walk.
  • Helping in the community: assisting in different areas; feeding the homeless, tutoring and helping kids, assisting the elderly in our church family, and others.
  • Night out/Game night: Home-cooked meals, or meals out. Bowling, Dave, and Busters, or maybe just some different board games.
  • Adopt-a-student: Members in the congregation will adopt a student as their own and provide spiritual support, guidance, and oversight for the student

Visitation Group Ministry

The Visitation Group functions under the oversight of the elders to enhance the
work of the congregation in the following areas:

  1. Handle receipt of visitor’s cards and follow up with them by making contact and/or visit with those who visit our services. The Group Leader usually will send out “Thank-you” letters expressing appreciation for their visit.
  2. Make contact and/or visit with new members to extend our welcome and
hospitality to help assimilate them into the life of the congregation.
  3. Visit with the sick and shut-in members to provide encouragement and
fellowship, and assist with and/or report any special needs that they may have.
  4. Provide and deliver care packages to the hospital ICU waiting room, and
    the Huntsville Rescue Mission.
  5. Serve as “Greeters” before and after each worship assembly.
