Women’s Ministry

The Women’s Ministry of Northwest Church of Christ exists to encourage, strengthen, and unite our sisters as we grow together in faith and service to the Lord. Rooted in love and guided by God’s Word, this ministry seeks to nurture spiritual growth, meaningful relationships, and active involvement in the work of the church.

Our Purpose

  • To cultivate L.I.F.E. — Love, Involvement, Fellowship, and Evangelism among our sisters, encouraging one another in faith and good works.

  • To faithfully support the brethren in the overall mission and work of the church.

  • To warmly invite and involve every sister in one or more areas of ministry, recognizing that each woman is valued, needed, and has a vital role to play.

  • To glorify God in all that we do and to shine as a light in the world, always remembering that this work is for His honor and not our own.

To strengthen bonds of love, unity, and encouragement, the Women’s Ministry hosts quarterly Ladies’ Fellowship gatherings, providing opportunities for connection, growth, and joyful fellowship among sisters.

In addition, the Women’s Ministry serves through a variety of activities organized by dedicated committees. These efforts allow us to extend compassion and practical support to those in need, both within the church family and throughout our community, reflecting the love of Christ through action.

Evangelism & Outreach

It consists of a diverse and constantly evolving array of efforts designed to reach souls both locally and globally.

Mission

To deliberately and faithfully reach souls both locally and throughout the world in obedience to Jesus Christ.

The purpose of this ministry is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people—without distinction of nation, background, or race—so that every soul has the opportunity to hear the truth, understand God’s love and saving grace, and respond in obedient faith. This mission is firmly grounded in the authority of Christ and His Great Commission as recorded in Matthew 28:18–19.

Our Mission in Action:

Be Ready at All Times to Teach the Gospel

To remain spiritually prepared, knowledgeable in the Word, and willing to share the Gospel whenever opportunity arises.
Scripture:

  • “Be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you…”1 Peter 3:15

  • “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”Romans 10:17

Strengthen and Utilize Worship Services

To use worship assemblies as a foundation for teaching sound doctrine, encouraging the saints, and inviting the lost to hear the truth of the Gospel.
Scripture:

  • “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.”Acts 2:42

  • “Let all things be done decently and in order.”1 Corinthians 14:40

Go Into All the World

To actively carry the Gospel beyond the church building—into homes, communities, and nations—fulfilling Christ’s command to evangelize all people.
Scripture:

  • “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…”Matthew 28:19

  • “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”Mark 16:15

Transportation Ministry

We believe no one should be hindered from worshiping God, studying His Word, or fellowshipping with the body of Christ because of transportation needs. For this reason, church van transportation is joyfully provided to all worship services and Bible classes for anyone who needs a ride. This ministry is an extension of our love, service, and commitment to one another in Christ.

The church is called to care for one another and to help remove obstacles that prevent faithful assembly and spiritual growth. As Scripture teaches, “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2). We also encourage one another to remain faithful in coming together, as instructed in Hebrews 10:24–25, where we are reminded not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together.

If transportation would help you or someone you know attend worship or Bible class, we are more than willing to help. Please contact Greg Miller at (256) 527-1642 as early as possible so arrangements can be made. It is our privilege to serve and ensure that all who desire to gather, learn, and worship are able to do so.

Benevolence

The Benevolence Ministry is dedicated to the compassionate and responsible stewardship of funds, as guided by 1 Corinthians 14:40. This ministry offers valuable information, financial counseling, and Bible study to empower our brethren in achieving financial stability.

A vital aspect of the Benevolence Ministry at the Northwest Church of Christ is to provide essential necessities of life—such as food, shelter, and clothing—to those in need, in alignment with the Biblical mandate to serve others. Jesus instructs us in Matthew 25:31-46 to help those who are less fortunate. Additionally, James 2:26 reminds us that faith without action is dead, while Hebrews 6:10 assures us that God will remember our efforts and the love we have shown in helping His people.

Our goal is to assist individuals and families, whether they are members of the Church or part of the broader community, who are genuinely in need of support.

Prison Ministry

Assist the Prison Ministry in any capacity that supports the mission of instructing, leading, feeding, and guiding individuals who are incarcerated. This ministry is dedicated to serving the Limestone Correctional Facility, where we strive to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those within the prison system.

In collaboration with the Prison Minister, we work to create a supportive environment that encourages personal growth and transformation for those incarcerated. Through various outreach efforts, we aim to provide essential resources and assistance to help meet their spiritual, physical, and emotional needs. Our ultimate goal is to assist in their rehabilitation and reintegration into society, helping them find hope and purpose during and after their time of incarceration.

Welcome & Care Ministry

The Visitation Group Ministry, under the guidance of the elders, exists to strengthen the life of the congregation by showing Christ’s love through personal care, encouragement, and hospitality. This ministry serves as a vital connection between the church and those who visit, are new to the congregation, or are in need of support.

Members of the Visitation Group warmly welcome visitors by following up on visitor cards, making personal contact, and sending notes of appreciation to express gratitude for their presence. They extend hospitality to new members, helping them feel fully embraced and integrated into the life of the church.

The ministry also provides encouragement and fellowship to the sick and shut-in, offering personal visits, support, and assistance with special needs, ensuring that every member feels loved and cared for. Additionally, the group reaches out to the broader community through the delivery of care packages to hospital ICU waiting rooms and the Huntsville Rescue Mission, demonstrating the compassion of Christ in tangible ways.

Serving as greeters before and after worship assemblies, the Visitation Group ensures that everyone entering the doors of the church experiences a warm welcome, reflecting the love, kindness, and servant-hearted example of Jesus in every interaction.
